In an effort to maintain a reasonably safe and healthful workplace, and in accordance with both federal and state law, the Elmstone Group Property Management, L.L.C. may from time to time inform employees through educational materials about the dangers of drug abuse in the workplace. Elmstone Group Property Management also has adopted the following policy:
- It is a violation of Company policy for any employee to sell, purchase, use, consume, possess, manufacture, distribute, dispense or transport any illegal substance, or to abuse any controlled substance, on Company premises and at any time during working hours, including meal and break periods. Elmstone Group Property Management employees shall report to work with their abilities unimpaired by illegal or controlled substances, and remain so throughout their assigned work day.
- If you are convicted of a violation of any criminal drug statute, and that violation occurred in the workplace, you are required to notify your supervisor within five (5) days after such conviction. “Conviction” means a finding of guilt or acceptance of a guilty plea, including a plea of nolo contendere, or imposition of a sentence, or both, by a judicial body.
- If you violate this policy, you will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including immediate discharge. Alternatively, at the Company’s discretion, you may be required to complete satisfactorily a drug assistance or rehabilitation program. You must comply with the requirements set forth in this statement. Any questions regarding this policy should be directed to your immediate supervisor.
Further, random drug screenings from time to time will be required. Elmstone Group Property Management staff has access to apartments occupied by our residents. Therefore, it is imperative that the management company be able to show proof that all staff is drug free in the event that someone’s honesty and character is questioned by a resident. CareNow will conduct these screenings, and the results will remain sealed and private between the company and the individual employee.
Drug Screening
Elmstone Group Property Management staff have access to apartments occupied by our tenants and containing their belongings. Therefore, it is imperative that the management company be able to show proof that all staff are drug free in the event that an individual questions a staff member’s honesty and character.
Elmstone Group Property Management will periodically perform random drug screenings for all full-time and part-time staff, as well as within a reasonable time-frame after hiring for all new hires.
CareNow will conduct these screenings, and the results will remain sealed and private between the company and the individual employee.
